Snackalong: Ocean’s Eleven
You're outta your goddamn minds!
You’ve heard of a sing-a-long, well a Snackalong is when you watch a film and eat everything the characters are eating. But Snackalong is more than a meal and movie. Snackalong is knowing the teacup in the diner scene is a Syracuse China Strawberry Hill print. Snackalong is receiving a gift pack with Danny’s wedding ring in to match what he gets when released from prison. Snackalong is ending the night with our very own fountain scene. Snackalong is a joyful and celebratory cinema experience with every detail brought to life for one special night.
The event was created/built in tandem with my studio mate Kilian at SuSu. We chose one of our favorite films: Ocean’s Eleven. The night was a very thorough, serving up all 19 of Brad Pitt’s items.

Video recap
This video was made by the very talented and very handsome Eli Horne, with tender editing and lots of love.
Branding
Hand painted for hand made
With so many foods being round we created a logo form that comes alive when filled with food. The typography is a nod to the o.g. food & film combo: 1950’s movie drive-in signage. The rounded terminals suggest a hand painted/drawn feeling to match with the event’s DIY nature.
Event collateral
A new movie poster
This was one of the first pieces of collateral made and it created the aesthetic and level of detail that would permeate each decision.
The concept is anchored in the scene of Rusty teaching the bratpack how to play cards and says, “You can’t have six cards in a five card game.” (The background blue felt is pulled from the table they were playing on in that scene.) Abstractly when you look at the layout, the movie’s title is created with the two columns of cards forming an 11. Instead of face cards, we show food that will be served throughout the film, all in neon to represent Vegas’ bright nights.

All! Of! The! Foods!
Below are the 19 items Rusty interacts with… Sometimes he just puts items to his mouth and we counted every single item. This is not a balanced meal, in sustenance or timing. In the beginning items come fast and sometimes they’re 30 minutes apart.
With the items: the Rusty interaction, timecode, ingredients, vessel, and custom neon illustration.

Gift pack
Everyone got custom designed goodies and movie prop call backs:
Rolled custom poster.
The ring and yellow envelope came from Danny’s jail release in the beginning of the movie.
Transparent die cut Snackalong Sticker
Custom deck of cards featuring the cast (Illustrated by the incredible Natasha Fedorova!) and Rusty’s Rules of Poker insert.
Royal Pine air freshner, just like in the fake SWAT get away car
“Menu” of the movie foods, with the description being the line that was said when the item was eaten and timestamp as the price.
Quiz prizes
After the film was a quiz of 11 questions… First place won a (potentially real) signed photo of Elliott Gould. Second place won Scott Cann’s coffee table photography book. And third place won a notebook made from an Ocean’s Eleven VHS cover.

The web invitation
After receiving a personalized audio invitation, the attendees were sent a URL to RSVP. It was modeled after Ocean’s business card he gives Linus when rounding up the crew. We thought this detail totally gave away the movie, but no one had a clue!
Bonus! Some behind the scenes photos
The FINAL FACT
In Ocean’s Twelve, the Night Fox's mansion is on the shores of Lake Como in Italy. The name of the city overlooking Lake Como is Bellagio, the hotel the crew robbed in the first movie.
