Seasonal poster
An inside calendar that connects you to outside
I was inspired by Ross Zurowski’s Small Seasons and how it enlightened my point of view of time with it’s connection to Earth’s cycles. Around the same time I was learning about Japanese paper marbling, or suminagashi. It seemed only natural to combine the two.
The outcome is a 11.5x15.25” print, individually dyed with it’s own unique pattern. I wanted to build the design so you could easily follow what period you were in with a magnetic slider outside the frame.

The FINAL FACT
Suminagashi translates to “ink floating”. Marbling has been practiced in Japan since the 12th century.
